Sleep on This

Hello Folks:

Once again I'm feeling a bit tired tonight which led me to my topic for this blog. Sleep, I've often wondered what is it that sleep is all about? Yeah I know your body has to rest and all that but just where do we go when we fall into unconsciousness? There are all kinds of psychological reasons for what we dream etc. but as far as I'm concerned they skirt around the issue.

How many of us have had premonition type dreams where you actually see something take place in your dreams and then it happens in waking life either the next day or in the very near future? There are literally thousands of case histories that have been documented. If that is the case doesn't it suggest that there is a sense in our unconsciousness that is not so unconscious at all? We humans tend to look for the logical explanations to things around us but what is often forgotten in all this is that perhaps we are looking at this whole phenomena from an inaccurate perspective. If you've ever stared at optical illusions such as the ones that M. C. Escher created at first you look at them and say to yourself yeah that's right, but wait a minute waterfall don't flow upstream yet in the drawing it seems apparent that they do.

If we can imagine it to any degree of accuracy then maybe we shouldn't be so quick to say "Oh that's impossible!" that may be the case in the present circumstances but not necessarily in the future. In the previous blog I mentioned that our imaginations also have limitations from the simple fact that our knowledge is limited in each individual, collective knowledge is a totally different matter.

Now imagine if someday we could develop a skill that would enable us to dream collectively. You're probably asking yourself now "Is this guy nuts?" quite the contrary if we can think collectively in our conscious states what's to say that we can't do it in an unconscious state? A lot of study has been done on the subconscious mind and the power of hypnotic suggestion in this area. These are things that were just floating through my mind tonight who knows what will happen when I go to sleep.

Someone said of the present century that the largest unexplored area we have to map is right between our two ears. It's often been said that man and women can do great things when they dream big just maybe there's a lot more to that statement than at present we can imagine.

Till next time...
